From cinnamon rolls to crusty sourdough, everything is baked fresh using wild fermentation, high-quality ingredients, and old-world technique — then made available at our self-serve stand in Franklin Township.

A Tremendous Grand Opening

When we opened The Bread Barn™ doors on June 28, we could never have imagined what was coming.

Within just three hours, all 154 pounds of our handcrafted sourdough and sweet treats were gone — every single loaf, cookie, and cinnamon roll spoken for. Guests traveled from across Indiana and as far as California to visit. Word spread quickly: from food bloggers and local journalists to a press release picked up by over 40 publishers reaching nearly 2 million readers.

Our Facebook page surged from 0 to 700 followers in just over a week, with 50,000+ views and growing. And the feedback? Kind, generous, and deeply affirming.

Thanks to your support, we’re expanding already:

  • 🥖 Pre-orders are now live — and yes, 95% of you are ordering our cinnamon rolls!

  • 🌾 We’re developing gluten-free options (you asked, we listened).

  • 🧺 Our Market Days are becoming a cherished rhythm in the community.

How Our Self-Serve Stand Works

We’ve designed The Bread Barn to be simple, secure, and welcoming — just like a visit to a neighbor’s front porch.

 

Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Browse the display and select your baked goods
2️⃣ Add up your total using the price signage
3️⃣ Pay using one of the easy digital methods listed below

Ideally, this is a fully cashless, honor-based system built on trust — and a love of good food. If all you have is cash, please drop it in the lockbox or see us in-person (if you need change) when you visit and we will happily assist.

What’s Baking at The Bread Barn

Our menu is small by design — handcrafted in limited batches. What’s available depends on ingredient freshness, baking schedule, and oven space.

We typically bake the first and third Fridays of each month, with the stand opening Saturday at 8:00 AM and remaining open until sold out.

 

Some weeks may shift — so be sure to check our Facebook page for market dates and special announcements.

Here’s a sampling of what we’re known for:

  • Cinnamon Rolls — Soft, buttery, and sweet

  • Rustic Sourdough — Naturally leavened and hand-scored; crusty on the outside, soft inside

  • Sourdough Sandwich Bread — A softer sourdough with a smooth crust — perfect for everyday slicing, toast, or farmhouse sandwiches

  • French Bread & Rolls — Made with traditional yeast; hand-shaped for an airy interior and golden, crisp crust

  • Farmhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies — Classic, thick, and loaded with chocolate

 

We also rotate in specialty bakes like bagels, English muffins, and buttery biscuits — so there’s always something new to look forward to.

My Letter To You...

Hi, I’m Sheila Healey — the hands behind the loaves at The Bread Barn.

For me, baking isn’t just about feeding people. It’s about slowing down, choosing better ingredients, and honoring the process. Every roll, loaf, and cookie that comes out of my kitchen is handmade with care — the kind of care that’s hard to find in a hurry.

We bake on the first and third Fridays of each month so that the stand is stocked and ready by Saturday at 8:00 AM. It will remain open until sold out — including Sunday, if needed. Pre-orders will be held with your name clearly labeled, and everything else is available on a first come, first served basis.

Our baking schedule may shift with seasons and family rhythms, so we invite you to follow along on Facebook for confirmed market days, menu updates, and seasonal bakes.
